Castle Sports Complex services improving, councillor tells meeting

Services at Castle Sports Complex are improving a local councillor has said.

Coun Gary Taylor told a meeting of the Spalding Town Forum on Wednesday, November 29 that since April, South Holland District Council had received 55 comments from users using the electronic feedback system.

Of these 34 were deemed positive, 15 negative with complaints including concerns over cleanliness and a lack of staff on occasions leading to sessions being cancelled. Six of the comments received were classed as being neutral.

Coun Taylor also stated that the number of people who used the swimming pool so far this year was 167,000, up from the 157,000 users in 2014, though no numbers were given for 2015 and 2016.

Following criticism of the service in 2015, the council set up a task group to look at the way the complex was being run by operators 1Life.

Coun Taylor said: “There has been quite a few improvements since. It’s good to report on the progress but there is always more to do.”

He added: “I use the facilities and I feel most people are happy with it, but it’s important that users lets us know their feedback.”
