Castle Sports Complex future: ‘It’s business as usual,’ says council

South Holland District Council has issued an assurance on the immediate future of Spalding’s Castle Sports Complex.

Commenting on the future of Spalding Beer and Music Festival, the first of which was held at the leisure centre last month, Castle ward member Coun Gary Taylor said: “There is still some uncertainty regarding the future of the Castle site, which needs to be resolved.”

But a council spokesman said: “It is a case of business as usual for the Castle Sports Complex. There has been no change to the bookings system and we are currently taking bookings for over a year in advance.
“Planned and reactive maintenance of the facility is being carried out as normal and there has been no change in our approach to this.
“The long term provision of leisure services in South Holland will be considered as part of our ongoing Transformation Programme.”
