Carter at the double to revive play-off charge

Two wins in four days put Holbeach United back to within a point of the play-off places in Division One North of the Thurlow Nunn League.

They warmed up for a cup double with a pair of league wins going into Wednesday’s county cup tie against Skegness Town and Saturday’s FA Vase date at home to Droitwich Spa.
Captain Sam Carter was at the heart of the return to form with a goal in each game.
A fantastic performance against a strong FC Peterborough side last Wednesday saw Carter joined on the scoresheet by Ryan Cook and Kyle Compton in a 3-2 victory.
Then on Saturday, the Tigers chalked up only their second home win of the campaign with a convincing 3-0 victory over Ipswich-based Whitton United.
Callum Wright gave them the interval lead and Jordan Keeble made it 2-0 just after the hour mark. Whitton’s Charles Howlett was sent off after 68 minutes and within a minute Carter had struck from the penalty spot to complete the scoring.
Tigers v Peterborough: Simpson, Greenacre, Lee, Oldham, Ling, Carter, Compton, Roberts, Keeble, Yambasu, Cook. Subs: West, Wright, Fowler.
Attendance: 156.
