Careers taster day is a hit

Pupils at Spalding’s Priory and Garth schools have been experiencing careers from equine care to pizza making.

A special day was held which also allowed the children to go fishing – in the school’s swimming pool.

“Whilst we acknowledge it is unlikely any of our pupils will access some form of employment, we take the world of work seriously and careers feature heavily within our curriculum,” said Claire Moore, senior deputy head teacher.

Rutland Agricultural Society took horses for the children to meet along with a tractor and trailer and Morrison’s donated pizza bases and toppings.

The Rutland Agricultural Show will be held on June 5.

“Huge thanks to all our visitors – the pupils have had a wonderful time,” said Mrs Moore.
