Care team highly commended

The South East Lincolnshire Palliative Care Team has been ‘Highly Commended’ at an annual awards.

The Palliative and End of Life Care Awards were held in London last month.

The South East Lincolnshire Palliative Huddles were highly commended in the Integrated Care Systems Award category. The award recognised effective multidisciplinary partnership working, collaboration and coordination of care that has led to improved patient outcomes and has since been successfully expanded across Lincolnshire.

The initiative brings together colleagues from Macmillan Cancer Support, St Barnabas Hospice, Integrated Care Teams and Specialist Neighbourhood Nursing teams.

The county-wide Macmillan team won the Palliative Care Team Award, recognising its innovative and resilient approach to delivering compassionate care.

Key achievements include the development of a palliative single point of access line, strong multidisciplinary collaboration through palliative care huddles, and a continued focus on patient-centred support.

Macmillan clinical nurse specialists Josie Vincent and Emma Orrey received individual nominations in the Excellence in Palliative Care Nursing Award category.
