Almost 60 new jobs could be created if permission is granted for a new care home in Holbeach.
An application has been submitted to South Holland District Council for the purpose-built home on Daisy Road, on the Meadows at the edge of the village.
A total of 66 beds will be available when building work is complete.
“It is anticipated that some 58 jobs would be created working to a rotational shift pattern of employment,” says the application.
Due to the pandemic and timescale, the applicant has not been able to take part in pre-application discussions.
“The proposed development would be very much a local community facility. Residents to the home would be expected to emanate from an area no more than five miles from the site or be associated with families/relatives that reside within this same catchment,” says the design statement submitted with the application.
The home would be over three storeys and is designed to cater for two types of care – general and residential dementia.
The application site has approval on part of it for residential development as part of a wider development.
The proposal is being made on behalf of LNT Care Developments which has a portfolio of homes across Yorkshire, the Midlands and the south of the country.
“The design brief for the site is to accommodate a new contemporary and innovative care home compliant with current legislation but exceeding minimum applicable standards. The objective is to provide a character of accommodation that would provide a higher quality of life for residents.
“In addition, it is to provide accommodation respectful of the character and appearance of the area that makes best use of the site’s most positive assets, attributes and aspects,” adds the statement.
Enclosed courtyard gardens would be included along with soft landscaping and a secure, screened area.
LNT designs and builds home for sister company Ideal Care Homes and other operators around the country.
The application will be decided by the planning authority in the coming weeks.
