A group of motorists are helping drive up funds for a fantastic local charity in need of more volunteers.
For the second consecutive year the Spalding and East Elloe Classic Car Club has donated over £3,000 to Spalding PHAB.
The charity has put on fortnightly sessions encouraging those with a disability and those who don’t want to share experiences.
It’s hugely popular, so much so that they currently have a waiting list for people to join.
The car club hope the donation from a host of different events in the last year will help keep PHAB’s wheels turning, literally and figuratively as buses are needed to ferry people to and from the sessions.
“It’s a charity that’s close to us and a lot of our members,” said Spalding and East Elloe Classic Car Club’s Joy Mann. “We’re an established car club that’s been putting on events for over 50 years and we always look to help a charity every year.
“This is the second year we’ve helped PHAB.
“Hopefully they can use the money to keep the vital service going.
PHAB’s Andrew Inkley said: “It’s a fantastic donation and we can’t thank them enough for it.
“It will go towards club funds and helping to continue to run our sessions.”
These sessions vary wildly, including the last one being a karaoke evening and disco.
They take place on the first and third Wednesday of each month at Weston Village Hall.
There are currently 45 people signed up to take part and a waiting list, partly because the charity needs more volunteers to help oversee those in attendance.
“If there’s anyone who can spare a couple of hours on a Wednesday night, we would be delighted,” said Andrew.
