Captain’s Day raises £3,340

Tydd St Giles club captain Ryan Rout’s Charity Captain’s Day Open attracted 100 golfers from around the area.

The individual stableford event was in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease charity and, after the competition, raffle and auction, £3,340 was raised.

The captain thanked his helpers and event organiser Gino Ciuffini.

A close event saw James Horscroft emerge victorious with 43 points, on countback from Graeme Barritte.

Andy Palmer was third, with 40 points, one point in front of George Deller, who pipped Darren Jimson on countback.

Nearest the pin at the fourth hole was Simon Smith, while Paul Mason scored a hole in one on the eighth.

Nearest the pin on the 11th was Jon Tyler, and 16th hole Mark Cooper.

Nearest the pin in two on the 18th hole was James Horscroft and the longest drive prize on the 13th was won by Martin Bowman.

☐ Sutton Bridge Seniors won four matches and halved two to beat Feltwell Seniors 5-1.

Tydd St Giles senior Brian Newby hit a hole in one on the 16th par third hole during his team’s 6-1 win against Ramsey.
