Spalding Town made it five wins from as many South Lincs and Border League Premier Division matches on Saturday as they beat rivals Boston 2nd by four wickets.
In a game reduced to 35 overs per side because of the rainfall, Town limited Boston to 122-9 at Spalding Grammar School before making a decisive 124-6 in reply.
Having lost the toss, Spalding were made to bowl first against their local rivals.
The away side made a solid start with William Tetther (14) and Peter Mitchell (47) on-song before Josh Lawrence (2-31) had the former caught by Harry DeCamps.
Skipper Jonathan Miles (4-24) then bagged the wicket of Azeem Qadir (6) to trigger a purple patch with the ball.
He also removed away skipper Damian Lawson (14), ex-Spalding ace Tim Norris (14) and Peter Ward (0) to put Boston firmly on the ropes.
Lawrence returned to knock Mitchell over just before he reached 50, while Joe Broomfield (2-11) snared Paul Tetther (4) and Shaun Moore (0) as Town closed in on maximum bowling points.
Sisa Tuntulwana was also run out for nine, but Dan Fox remained unbeaten at the end to ensure Spalding took just four of the five bowling points available.
Spalding lost a few wickets early on in their reply, with Jon Manton (5) and Josh Newton (4) falling cheaply.
The rebuilding job began with Broomfield (27) and Miles (45 not out) coming together for a key partnership.
Lawson (3-26), who also got rid of Manton, eventually broke the stand with the scalp of Broomfield – and followed that up by snaffling Ambrose for a duck.
Town then had a wobble, with Peter Cook (9) and Lawrence (0) both out to Moore (2-24).
But Miles stood tall throughout, playing a proper captain’s innings.
He was joined by talented youngster William Barnes (13 not out) and the pair saw the hosts home with three overs to spare.
The 19-point haul sees Spalding sit four points clear of Bourne 2nd at the summit.
They are once again at home this Saturday, with mid-table Grantham 2nd – who have lost their last two – the visitors to Spalding Grammar School (1pm start).
