Captain Clarke regrets Tigers exit despite ‘perfect’ Heanor move

Passionate former Holbeach United skipper Jamie Clarke has expressed his regret at leaving Carter’s Park.

Clarke, who was the Tigers’ leading scorer last season, has decided to join Heanor Town after failing to agree terms with boss Darren Jarvis.

With Heanor based a stone’s throw from his office, the move makes perfect sense for the hitman. But he’s still disappointed that he’ll not be pulling on the black and yellow stripes again.

Clarke said: “I spoke to Darren at the presentation night and we discussed a possible deal. Sadly, that hasn’t worked out and I’ve decided to join Heanor.

“It’s a perfect move for me location-wise and I’m very pleased to be joining them.

“Holbeach fans should know that I’ve not left for footballing reasons, I’m gutted to be going if I’m honest and it’s a shame I wasn’t able to stay.

“Holbeach is a club that I’ll always be very fond of and I’ll always rate my season there as one of the best of my career.

“I wish everyone at the club the very best for the future. With the signings they’ve made, I expect them to be challenging for the title.”

Tigers boss Jarvis added: “Jamie’s a top man and a top player, I wish him all the best.”
