Candidates for 2021 county council and Police and Crime Commissioner elections announced

The candidates for the 2021 elections to Lincolnshire County Council and for the county’s Police and Crime Commissioner position have been announced.

The election takes place on Thursday May 6.

The candidates for the nine Lincolnshire County Council wards in South Holland are:

Crowland – Richard Geoffrey Fairman (Ind), Nigel Harry Pepper (Con).

Donington Rural – Martin Colman (Green), Rodney Grocock (Con), Jane Lesley King (SH Ind).

Holbeach – Tracey Ann Carter (Con), Paul Cayton Foyster (SH Ind), James David Thomas (Lab).

Holbeach Rural – Christopher Clark (Green), Peter Ephraim Coupland (Con), Edward George McNally (Ind).

Spalding East – Robert Antony Gibson (SH Ind) Eddy Poll (Con).

Spalding Elloe – Douglas William Dickens (Ind), Rebecca Longbottom (Lab), Elizabeth Jane Sneath (Con), Heather Julie Irene Violett (Green).

Spalding South – Martin Christopher Blake (Green), Nicholas James Brown (Lab), Manzur Hasan (SH Ind), Gary John Taylor (Con).

Spalding West – David John Denman (Con), Angela Mary Newton (SH Ind).

The Suttons – Christopher James Thomas Harrison Brewis (Ind), Jack Tyrrell (Con).

Con = Conservative, Ind = Independent, SH Ind = South Holland Independents, Lab = Labour, Green = Green Party.

County councils are responsible for education, transport (including highways), fire and public safety, social care, libraries and waste management (but not waste collection which is organised by South Holland District Council).

The candidates for the role of Police and Crime Commissioner are: Peter Anthony Escreet (Reform UK), Marc Stuart Jones (Conservative), Rosanne Christina Kirk (Labour), Ross David Pepper (Liberal Democrat) and David Vaughan Williams (Lincolnshire Independents).

The Police and Crime Commissioner oversees the police force in Lincolnshire.

There’s also a by-election for Sutton Bridge parish council. The two candidates are listed as David Ernst Burch and Colin John Robinson.
