Calls to re-open Two Planks Bridge

There are calls for the reinstatement of Two Plank Bridge, closed for work on the relief road.

The bridge, used by residents as a traffic-free link to Spalding, was closed in 2021 initially for two years.
Work on the first section of the bypass was delayed and finally started in January 2022 and the bridge is not scheduled to re-open for use until summer 2024.
But the delay in starting the second section has seen calls for the bridge to be reinstated immediately.
“Two Plank Bridge was a safe way for children cycling to and from school in Spalding. It should be reinstated as soon as possible,” said Jane Cooper.
“Everyone that used to use the bridge is now forced to walk on the path alongside a busy road,” said Paul Andrew.
Health and safety issues are given as the reason for the bridge to remain closed.
