Call for pedestrian crossing in Holbeach goes on

The fight for a proper pedestrian crossing on the A17 at Holbeach is continuing.

Campaigner Paula Hayes, who has collected more than 760 signatures on petitions calling for improvements at Boston Road roundabout, was disappointed to see no provision for pedestrians in the approved planning application for £5m alterations at nearby Peppermint Junction.
Dropped kerbs indicate a crossing point for the three lines of carriageway. There is a central refuge but no signage.

Paula said on Friday (March 18): “This morning I stood in the middle of the road with my daughter for five minutes.
“[Council officers] need to be there and see the situation at the busiest points – that’s school times and work times.”

The petitions are at The Tea Room in High Street and both doctors’ surgeries. The online version is at www.gopetition.com (search A17).
