Call for men to get checked

A Spalding man has renewed his campaign for men to get their prostates checked as part of men’s health month.

Mark Le Sage, a district councillor and founder of the charities The Rightside Trust and Ella’s Project, has put up posters around town, including in the Johnson Hospital.
“The aim of the campaign is to encourage men over 50, or under, who are having symptoms such as going for a wee more times than usual at night, blood in their urine or have difficulty passing urine to get a PSA test (Prostate Specific Antigen) at their local GP surgery,” said Mark.
He is a former nurse and says he has friends and past patients who left it too long. “A simple blood test is all that is needed but men are traditionally awful at going to the doctor.
“They often leave symptoms till they are acute but then the treatment Is often more invasive and potentially less successful.
“The sooner you get seen, quite often, the simpler the treatment is.”
