Café is just the tonic for area

Those behind a charity’s community café say it’s going from strength to strength.

In fact five years after opening, Tonic 44 at the charity Tonic Health’s Surfleet Hub, has experienced its busiest six months.
It was set up by the charity to help it fund its many groups from looking after those with dementia and anxiety to providing advice for those that need it.
Based at its Tonic Health Hub on Station Road, it’s open to the public Wednesday to Saturday as well as providing a place for the charity’s many groups to meet at.
They also regularly host fundraisers for Tonic Health with quiz nights and events planned for the next few months.
It’s on top of providing catering for the nearby Spalding Hockey Club on Saturdays.
“It’s been an amazing few months,” said cafe manager Theresa Holley. “Cafe 44 is becoming more and more like a community cafe.”
Theresa manages the cafe and she is backed by Amanda Read and Shaz Mason.
Anybody can book out the premises for what they need.
“We do a roast every Friday and in the run up to Christmas did about 200 Christmas meals,” Theresa continued. “This is for the whole community and it’s great the word is getting out there.”
