East Elloe Lions have had a busy few weeks.

New president David Enser took over the role from Tony Portass at a meeting at the Hat and Feathers in Sutton St James.

Following a request from 1st Long Sutton Guides, the club agreed to fund the cost of 44 T-shirts for the girls to wear during a trip to Switzerland.

They have promised to visit the club and tell members how the adventure went.

The Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance Appeal also benefited after the Lions held a table top sale at Sutton St James

Mr Enser said: “Tina McNeil, who lives in the village, runs a fundraising event each year and we offered to bolster her efforts by running a table top sale on the same day.

“This is the second donation the Lions have made to this important appeal this year as we feel this resource is so useful in such a large rural area.”

Lions clubs can be found throughout the world, all working together to assist their communities and in this area alone, there are clubs in Spalding, Crowland, Bourne, Deepings, Boston and Wisbech to name but a few.

Mr Enser added: “The club here in the East Elloe area celebrates 35 years of service this month and we look forward to many more years, having fun but at the same time helping where we can.

“New members are always welcome to join us and to bring fresh ideas to what is a true community approach.”
