Business Live event puts a spotlight on Lincolnshire

An essential event for Greater Lincolnshire businesses will take place in October.

LEP Business Live will bring together two events in one: last year’s successful Business Live event and the annual summit of the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).

The free event will take place at the EPIC Centre, Lincolnshire Showground, on Friday, October 24 and will feature exhibitors, speakers, a Q&A panel session, business networking and lunch.

Business Live was launched in October last year as a flagship event for businesses in Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire.

It aims to shine a spotlight on a range of industries which are vital elements of the Greater Lincolnshire economy.

This year there will be a dedicated exhibition area with industry zones including property, finance, energy, digital, tourism and skills.

Under the same roof on the same day the annual Greater Lincolnshire LEP summit will provide a platform for business leaders and politicians to debate the big economic issues that face Greater Lincolnshire.

The LEP is a private sector led body which lobbies Government to improve the conditions for economic growth in Greater Lincolnshire.

Last month the LEP welcomed a £40 million funding boost for Greater Lincolnshire via the Government’s Growth Deal, which will give Greater Lincolnshire new resources and powers to build infrastructure, create jobs and train local people.

LEP Business Live will be hosted by Ursula Lidbetter MBE, chairman of the Greater Lincolnshire LEP, and Steven Fletcher, publisher of the Lincolnshire Echo.

Ursula said: “2014 has been a very exciting year for Greater Lincolnshire as the LEP prepares to take on more responsibility for shaping our local economy, deciding on the areas where we think our share of the funds should be spent.

“The Growth Deal that we negotiated last month will kickstart some major infrastructure projects.

“It represents a significant boost to our economy and will support job creation, improve our skills base and allow us to invest in our infrastructure to meet the economic needs of the future.

“Against that background LEP Business Live is an opportunity for us to engage with the area’s businesses and debate the big economic issues that face Greater Lincolnshire.

“It’s an unmissable event for anyone doing business or working with businesses in the area.”

As well as keynote speakers by prominent business figures there will also be a panel discussion and Q&A session with members of the Greater Lincolnshire LEP board.
