BT says it will clean up phone boxes

BT has said it has scheduled cleaning work to be carried out on town phone boxes hit by graffiti.

Recently at the Spalding Town Forum, district councillor Gary Taylor brought up the condition of the phone boxes in the town in a discussion about graffiti.
He highlighted that BT was one of the organisations he’d struggled to get hold of about the phone boxes in Hall Place, Sheep Market and at the Winsover Road/Station Road junction.
But the company is now vowing to improve the sites in Spalding.
A BT spokesman said: “We encourage people to report damage they see to our payphones or those in need of a clean.
“We’re grateful to the councillor for bringing this to our attention. This has been reported to our maintenance teams who will carry out work on the payphones in question.
“We would urge anyone who witnesses criminal activity to report it to the police. And while crime and anti-social behaviour are police matters, we remain committed to working closely with the authorities and local communities to help where we can.”
Coun Taylor said: “This is an encouraging response.
Hopefully, if we work better with these organisations in the future we can once again make our area a graffiti- free environment.”
“Hopefully, BT are true to their word and clean these phone boxes as soon as possible.”
