Bringing smiles to Sutton Bridge

An annual Christmas toy appeal has been launched and it’s first fundraising event of the season is a quizzical one tomorrow night.

Jelly’s & Jolly’s Community Association, Sutton Bridge Christmas Toy Appeal was officially launched last Saturday.

This is its sixth year and once again, it hopes to provide young people a Christmas gift who for various reasons may have otherwise gone without over the festive period.

You can drop off any gifts to be passed on at Sutton Bridge Library in the Curlew Centre.

A spokesman for the charity said: “The Toy Appeal has been running for six years and was started because many children in the area are from low income families.

“Anyone wishing to donate a present can bring it into the library where Jelly’s & Jolly’s will collect them and distribute them.

“This year we are looking for new toys for children between the ages of three and 16 years old.

“We have enough for children aged up to three years.

“All presents will be wrapped and delivered in time for Christmas.”

The closing date for donations is Saturday, December 14.

Jelly’s and Jolly’s also hold fundraising events and the first of these takes place tomorrow.

The quiz night takes place at the Curlew Centre from 7pm to 10pm.

As well as the quiz with plenty of prizes up for grabs, and a raffle, there is a fish and chip supper.

Tickets costing £6 each are available from Sutton Bridge Library or by contacting Anne on 01406 351319 or Jenny on 01406 366848.
