South Holland star Chloe Hannam won a 200m backstroke bronze medal and clocked a new East Region record on day four of the British Swimming Championships.
Spalding native Hannam, who was representing City of Peterborough Swimming Club (COPS) at the Glasgow event, won heat five of six in a new personal best time of 2.11.74mins to qualify for the final.
Hannam, who is now 19, was placed in lane five for the final – which put her next to the favourite Lizzie Simmonds, who has previously represented Britain at Olympic and world standard.
She got off to a relatively slow start, which left her trailing the leader by over half a body length. At 50m mark the Lincolnshire ace was in fifth place and looking a long shot for a medal.
However, the next 50m saw Hannam fly through the field and pull her position back to third place.
That put her in a position to finish even higher but, despite a barnstorming finish, she had to settle for the bronze medal.
That saw her finish in another new PB time of 2.11.47mins, which now makes her the new holder of an East Region record.
