Brilliant Bren inspires terrific Tulips triumph

Bren Bowman was on scintillating form in Spalding and District Snooker League on Thursday night to inspire a Tulips A success.

Ace cueman Bowman (O56) made a super 43 break against Consti I’s Martyn Stanley (R21), before finishing the frame off with a 22 clearance.

Team-mates Brett Maddison (scr), Mike Sampson (O7) and Nathan Wilson (R7) also won to seal the success for the Spalding side.

At the top of the table, runaway leaders Holbeach A are now 12 points clear after a 5-1 success over Services C.

Jem Merrison’s (O42) 39 break was the highlight for the champions-elect.

Second-placed Services E were 4-2 victors over Tulips B, with Chris Dunmore’s (O14) black ball win over Mark Woodberry (O56) settling the contest in frame three.

Darren Woodberry’s (O35) 34 break was the highlight in that clash.

Tulips B also beat Holbeach C 5-1, with Mark Woodberry sinking a fantastic 43 break of his own.

Also winning well were Pyramid B, who dispatched Boundary B 5-1. Four of the five frames went to the final black, with Alfonso Palumbo (O49) making a 29 break.

At the foot, Services F are now three points adrift after losing 4-2 at home against Bourne SC A. Pete Hodgson-Kerry (O28) sank a 22 break for the winners.

In Division Two, Boundary A remain in command at the summit following their 4-2 triumph at Consti B.

Stewart Lilley’s (scr) final frame win moved them six clear with a game in hand.
Second-placed Pyramid D won 5-1 at Consti H.

Elsewhere, a 31 break and 21 clearance from Tim Nash (O28) helped Services B see off Gosberton A 5-1. Team-mates Paul Doades (R7) and Alan Hansard (scr) also chipped in with breaks of 27 and 20 respectively to help secure the points.

There was also a 22 break from Doug Garfoot (O21) as Consti H won 4-2 at Services B to stay in the mix for a top three finish.

Also 4-2 winners were Holbeach B and Pyramid C, who beat Crowland A and Services A respectively.

In Division Three, leaders Holbeach E won 4-2 against Consti A with Ben Hardomh (O21) sinking a key 31 break in the final frame.

Consti D picked up a 5-1 success at Gosberton C to ease their relegation fears. A 24 break from Stuart Tamplin (R7) was in vain for the hosts.

Another side victorious were Gosberton B, who saw off Services D 4-2 in a game that saw Tanya Peel (scr) reel off a 21 break.
