Monday saw another dazzling evening in the Spalding six-a-side Leisure League with plenty of eye-catching football on display.
The opening Division One game of the night at Surfleet’s Glen Park saw pub bragging rights up for grabs as Brennans Sports and Punchbowl Tigers squared off.
It wasn’t as close as most expected, with Brennans running out 4-0 winners – thanks largely to a man-of-the-match (MOTM) showing by Josh Faulkner.
Meanwhile, leaders Polishborough ploughed through their opposition again with a 10-0 victory over struggling Balotellitubbies to make it four wins from four.
Yamay was named star man for a side looking like champions elect.
Game three was also a one-sided affair as Baltic United ran out 9-2 winners against a downtrodden Univeg Team. Edgaras Buzas picked up his second star man award of the season in the all Eastern European affair.
The division finished with probably the closest fought game that the league has seen in this division. EPH Allstars and Simple FC drew 1-1, with Daniel Mason walking away as MOTM.
Division Two got under way with Luis Suarez Ate My Hamster taking on Old Boy Coaches. The clash sure Suarez bag their first win of the campaign, with Yamay getting the nod as the game’s star man.
Match two saw Mail Carters, desperate for their first points, put in a good, positive display against Dynamo Kiev despite a 2-1 loss. Kiev’s James Gilbert was MOTM.
The third game was a scoreless draw between Sarah’s Boys and Class On Grass. Cameron Walker shone the brightest in a tight tussle.
The final game of the night in this division saw Posh Old Boys cement their spot at the top after cruising to a 2-0 victory over Le Saux Solid Crew.
Will Cokeham made all the difference as the game’s key man.
