Crashes and the weather conspired to leave Ben Wilson with just a single MCE British Superbike championship point at Brands Hatch on Sunday.
With grid positions for race two set from the fastest lap in the first encounter, Wilson started from row six.
But the 20-lap affair was red-flagged on just the second lap for a crash and a new race declared at 18 laps distance.
As the lights went out, the Kirton rider got away to a fast start, being 12th at the end of the first lap. But another crash brought the course car out and at the end of lap two the race was red-flagged yet again.
This time it was for rain as the huge black cloud carried out its threat.
At the restart and with the race reduced to 15 laps, it was hardly raining although it had been declared a wet race.
Wilson got away well and was soon up to 13th place but his wet weather tyres began to wear and he dropped back to finish 15th place to pick up one championship point.
Wilson said: “That second race was so frustrating. It was red-flagged twice and then the weather played its part in the final run.
“It was wet and slippery and it would have been so easy to make a mistake and drift out onto the white lines and crash. But I made it to the chequered flag and picked up a championship point which brings my total so far to 22.”
Starting from a ninth row grid position in the first race, Wilson had powered the Gearlink Kawasaki through to 17th place on the first of 19 laps.
Although he did move forward to 16th on a couple of occasions he fell back to finish in 17th place – just outside the points.
The sixth round is at Thruxton on August 3.
