Bowser is the king for Spalding Cycling Club at Rockingham Races

Spalding Cycling Club’s Andrew Bowser fired to a superb win in the most recent Rockingham Criterium Races.

The club were well represented at the event with Bowser joined by Tim Lister (taking part in his first criterium race) Chris Bettinson, Frazer Wallis, Kieran Buffham and Josh Wallis.

Taking part in the Category Four race, Bowser had an amazing ride to take first spot which gave him enough points to gain his category three licence.

Chris Bettinson and Tim Lister also finished in the main bunch.

In the category two and three race Josh Wallis took second spot gaining more points towards his category one professional licence, and Frazer Wallis and Kieran Buffham finished strongly in the main bunch.

PERSONAL BEST: Barry Drew earned a personal best over 10 miles at Sleaford CC’s time trial.

* Two Spalding riders took part in Sleaford CC’s 15 mile Time Trial on the A52 course from near the A15 junction to Donington and back.

Barry Drew who finished in 41:54 on the way managed a personal best 10 mile time of 26 minutes while Bill Woods finished in 53:50.

* On Sunday Alford CC hosted their 10 mile TT on the fast course at Gunby near Skegness and although no club riders took part local rider Chris Ward finished in a pleasing 21:43 taking eighth place.

* Spalding CC’s own regular TT sadly had to be cancelled.

It was due to be held on the alternative course had to be called off due to the grass harvest being brought forward.

This meant that the assembly and start area based at Decoy Farm was not available and it was not possible to revert to the Pode Hole course.
