Bourne take top spot

Bourne SC took over at the top of the Spalding and District Billiards League with a 7-0 romp against third-placed Donington. Oli Player (R40) made a solid start with breaks of 23 and 20 in his 200-176 opening frame win and Elliott Gaunt (R50) and Lester Gaunt (scr) kept up the winning pace.
Consti A lost top spot, despite a 5-2 win at Gosberton A. They lost the opening game but Alan Hansard (R80) and Stewart Davies (R50) hit back to secure victory.
Holbeach A shot up the standings thanks to a 7-0 success at Pyramid A. Phil Coaten (R80) opened with a 200-188 to set the scene for Mick Cooper (O200) to rattle up breaks of 48, 32, 27, 24, 23 and two 22s in a 200-187 win, with Ben Harding (R30) completing the away whitewash.
Monday’s other match saw Holbeach B leapfrog Pyramid B into fourth place with a 5-2 victory. Denis Hix (R70) and Wayne Fobelets (R50) secured victory before Neil Harvey (R50) potted breaks of 41 and 21, only to lose to Darrell Read (R40) with a break of 56, which is the biggest break by a receive player.

Results: Bourne SC 7 Donington 0, Consti B v Gosberton B – postponed, Gosberton A 2 Consti A 5, Holbeach B 5 Pyramid B 2, Pyramid A 0 Holbeach A 7.
