South Holland District Council is set to invite the Boundary Commission to conduct a review of the area.
The last time it was in the area was 13 years ago. The commission is responsible for looking at electoral arrangements.
This includes the number of council members elected to each authority, the boundaries of wards or divisions and the name of wards or divisions.
Members of the full council are set to discuss the matter at a meeting on Wednesday.
“An initial review by officers for elector numbers/ward members has not indicated any substantial elector inequality, given the time since the last review,” says a report going before the council.
The main aim of a review is to ensure that councillors in a single authority, SHDC in this instance, represent a similar number of people.
If the boundary commission agrees to carry out a review, it will ensure there is continued elector equality in the district.
Although there could also be some changes to wards and divisions, depending on the number of electors found to be residing in each.
The commission is independent and directly accountable to Parliament through a committee chaired by the Speaker of the House.
