Boss Kierman wants newly-formed Long Sutton under-18s to make an impact

Long Sutton Athletic’s new under-18 team are hoping to make their mark on the local scene next season.

Bossed by Tom Kierman and his assistant Terry Kemsley, Sutton will be playing in the Peterborough Youth League against the likes of Spalding United under-18s and Wisbech St Mary under-18s.

The under-18 team will work closely with the Magpies’ first team and reserves next season and have already begun pre-season training alongside both. Kierman believes that Sutton have a good crop of young players and is hopeful of making an impact.

He said: “The under-18 side is new to the Long Sutton set-up and we’ll be working closely with the two men’s teams. The majority of our players will be available to play for them too.

“We’re looking forward to coming up against local rivals such as Spalding and Wisbech St Mary and will be hoping to overturn both.

“We’ve got a good crop of players in place and we’ll be looking to start the season with a bang.”

Sutton’s newest side are looking for friendly fixtures ahead of the new season. You can contact them on Twitter via the official club account @Longsuttonafc or Kierman’s account @TomKierman.

  • Long Sutton returned to pre-season training on Saturday.

They will continue to train on Tuesday and Thursday nights at London Road (7pm). All faces old and new are welcome.
