Boss Jarvis eyes three more Holbeach United targets

Ambitious Holbeach United could yet make three more signings this summer.

Boss Darren Jarvis and number two Tom Roberts have been very active this summer, snapping up the likes of Jamie Stevens, Josh Ford, Tommy Treacher, Jonny Clay, Chris Ward, Ricky Drury and Andy Law.

The Tigers retain an interest in Wisbech Town’s Luke Wilson, but have admitted defeat in their pursuit of fellow Fenman Steven Reid.

Jarvis feels he’s a winger and a midfielder short of his “ideal squad” after last week’s swoop for frontman Treacher from Wisbech, but remains pleased with his summer activity so far.

He said: “I’d say we do need one or two more – maybe three if we can.

“If we can get at least a couple more deals over the line, I’d say we’d be pretty much done and dusted transfer-wise.

“If we can get the three players we want, we’ll have a very strong squad.

“We are still talking with Luke Wilson and he’s a player we’d like.

“With Steven Reid, I think that one is dead in the water and he’ll stay there.

“We’re talking to two wingers and a midfielder that we’d very much like to sign, but we’ll have to see.

“Getting Tommy signed last week was a real boost, we’ve been after him since the season ended really.

“Personally, he’s another player I’ve tried – and failed – to get numerous times over the years.

“Tommy knows Holbeach inside out and is loved by the fans and staff here.

“Over the years, you’ve always known that you’d get hard work and total commitment from him.

“But last year he added goals to his game and has really elevated himself to the next level in my mind.

“To have Tommy, Josh Ford and Andrew Tidswell as strike options is very exciting.”

Meanwhile, Holbeach are now looking for a friendly on July 18 after previous opponents Louth Town cancelled their proposed clash. The Tigers are ideally after step five opposition.
