Borrett bags a victory from peg one amid top turnout at angling event

There was an excellent turn out for the Civil Service Seniors first venture of the new year at Kingsland Small Lake at Turves.

Not deterred by the freezing morning they persevered through the chilly day to put some impressive weights on the scales.

Steve Borrett drew favoured peg 1 and made no mistake, putting 177lb 12oz of carp to 10lb in his nets for a comfortable win.

Surprisingly, given the cold weather, most of his fish fell to bread amongst dog biscuits.

Second, on the opposite side of the lake, was far travelling John Bartlett with a corn and pellet tempted 87lb with Ian Timpson not far behind with 84lb 8oz, mostly caught in the margins on cat meat.

The irrepressible Roland Dean was just one fish shy of the top three with a hard earned 82lb 4oz, a mix of margin and bread caught fish.

  • The Tydd Gote Angling Club AGM will be held on April 25 commencing 7.30pm at The Woodman’s Cottage, Gorefield.
