Borett bags the winning catch

Spalding Fishing Club anglers in round five met a very uninvitingly coloured and fast running River Glen on Sunday but having cancelled two matches due to recent inclement weather the anglers voted to fish in these difficult conditions.
The fishing, whilst hard, was better than expected with 60 per cent of the field topping 2lbs.
Leading the way was the consistent Steve Borrett on peg ten where he opted to fish pole feeder and was rewarded with 4lbs 12oz of roach.
Second on the day was Colin Fisher (peg 7), who fished whip feeder for 3lb 3oz of mainly small skimmers.
Unusually, having won the last three matches, Dave Corcoran (peg nine) was fishless for the first two hours, but he started catching small fish tight in on the whip for 2lb 12oz and now looks odds-on favourite to take the league in this series of seven matches with best five results counting.
The next match (weather permitting) is on Sunday (February 25).
