Book characters come to life

Ayscoughfee Hall School in Spalding celebrated World Book Day this week with everyone dressing up as their favourite book character.

Headteacher Theresa Wright said: “Reading is such an important part of education, and the children were given lots of opportunities throughout the day to develop their love of books.”
During the day, the children were able to spend time reading with their friends, some even went along to other classes to share books with children in different year groups.
A special quiz was devised to test the children’s knowledge of different books they have read, and Year 6 children began work on writing books of their own.
Mrs Wright added: “Our Kindergarten children have been learning about Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and even sneaked up to the staff room to see what it would be like to eat their porridge whilst sitting in a teacher’s chair!
“A really fun day in school to emphasise the importance of a good read.”
Send your World Book Day pictures at [email protected] and we’ll try to include them in next week’s edition.
