The new £900,000 marina at Sutton Bridge is ready to be showcased to people wanting a mooring.
Cross Keys Marina – due to open early next year – has both leisure and commercial moorings.
Up to 20 leisure boats will be catered for alongside commercial moorings which will be used by the Nene navigation pilot boat and Eastern IFCA (a fisheries protection agency).
Each mooring point will provide boaters with electricity and water connections.
The project was driven by Nene Marina CIC (Community Interest Company), with funding coming from Lincolnshire County Council, a Section 106 community development fund for Sutton Bridge, and the two commercial users.
An open day is being held on Tuesday, December 13, enabling people to tour the site and find out more.
Session times are:
- 10am-11am
- 11am-noon
- 12.30pm-1.30pm
- 1.30pm-2.30pm
- 2.30pm-3.30pm
Coun Colin Davie, executive member for economic development, said: “Boaters have already shown a lot of interest in the marina, and we expect the open day to be popular.
“It will give people an opportunity to see this fantastic new facility first-hand, before it opens early next year.
“This will be a real boon for the local community, bringing in new visitors, who’ll be using local shops, pubs and restaurants. And that will mean good news for the local economy.”
