District councillor Angela Newton has received two nominations in the Bloomer of the Year category, sponsored by Bakkavor, for her efforts in Spalding in Bloom.
The first nomination comes from her husband Alan Porter, who said Angela has worked tirelessly for a number of years.
He said: “Angela is very hands on, doing planting and weeding in planters and flower beds.”
He also described her numerous successes in boosting the Spalding in Bloom effort, including securing permission for and sponsorship for barrier troughs in Swan Street and securing grants.
He finished: “Angela turns her hand to anything just as long as Spalding has more flowers and offers a more welcoming face to the town to both residents and visitors.”
He second nomination comes from fellow district councillor Bryan Alcock, who said: “Angela can often be found in the town planting and removing weeds to allow the plants to flourish.
“She is always there when there is a litter pick or weeding session and sets a good example to us all.
“Even last year when she had recently had her hip replaced, she was still out setting plants.”
