Billiards round-up: White-hot Rob sinks 164 break for Crowland but loses frame

Rob Childs was at his brilliant best in the Spalding and District Billiards League on Monday night as he made a stunning 164 break.

The Crowland cue ace, who plays off a mammoth O270 handicap, laid down an early marker for best break of the season against Gosberton B – but he was beaten 200-91 by Marcus Pell (O20).

That helped Gosberton B to a 5-2 success, with Shane White (O30) making breaks of 67 and 45 for them.

The was also an impressive 61 break from Long Sutton’s Mick Cooper (O190), but his team were seen off 5-2 at Gosberton A.

Cooper, like Childs, was also beaten in his frame by Jamie Mumby (R90).

Perhaps the closest game of the week saw Consti A edge past Consti B 4-3, in a game that saw the B side’s Mick Johnson (O170) sink breaks of 42, 32 and 31.

In contrast, Holbeach B were the big winners as they dismantled Donington 7-0.

Neil Harvey (R50), Chris Chamberlain (R80) and Tony Blanchard (R50) were all on winning form.

Completing the second round of fixtures was Pyramid A’s 5-2 success over Holbeach A.

Colin Dodd (scr) made a 33 break as he grabbed Holbeach’s only frame success.
