Holbeach A remain nine points clear at the top of Spalding and District Billiards League after beating Long Sutton 5-2 in a classy contest on Monday night.

Frame wins from James Glover (R90) and Colin Dodd (R30) got the job done for Holbeach, but all three of the frames were keenly contested.

Sutton’s Mick Cooper (O190) and Mark Tims (R10) starred with breaks of 45 and 39 respectively, while Dodd sank a 32 break in the decisive finale.

Second placed Crowland B kept in touch with the leaders after defeating Consti A by the same 5-2 scoreline.

Their frame wins came from Roger Goodliffe (R120) and Allan Sharman (R60), while Alan Hansard (R80) hit back with a 23 break for Consti.

The big winners of the week were Donington, who crushed Gosberton A 7-0.

Also winning well were Holbeach B, who handed hosts Consti B a 5-2 reverse.

A fabulous 50 break from Mick Johnson (O170) was the highlight for Consti, while Tony Blanchard’s (R50) 32 break in the final frame proved decisive.

Elsewhere, a 34 break from Martin O’Connor (R20) helped Pyramid B win their all-club clash with Pyramid A 5-2.
