Billiards round-up: Leaders Holbeach A extend advantage with win in crunch clash

Table-topping Holbeach A got back to winning ways in Spalding and District Billiards League with a 5-2 success at nearest rivals Crowland B on Monday night.

James Glover (R90) and Colin Dodd (R30) were the frame winners, with the latter making a cool 28 break.

Paul Howard (R60) hit back for second-placed Crowland, but they are now nine points off the pace.

Elsewhere, Crowland A enjoyed a 5-2 success at Pyramid B.

Breaks of 24 and 23 from Martin O’Connor (R20) and Darrell Read (R30) respectively weren’t enough for the Bourne side, as Paul Cook (R80) and Richard Walker (R80) won their frames.

The score was also 5-2 as Holbeach B saw off Donington.

Neil Harvey (R50) and Denis Hix (R70) were the victors for the hosts, while Ben Wrigglesworth (R40) registered Donington’s points in the final frame – adding a 21 break in the process.

Consti B were the big winners of the week, as they handed club mates Consti A a 7-0 whitewashing.

Jason Rose (R40) and Mick Johnson (O170) were the stars of the show in that one, making breaks of 49 and 44 respectively.

In contrast, Pyramid A edged to a 4-3 triumph at rock-bottom Gosberton A in the closest game of the week.

John Twell’s (R60) 24 break en-route to victory in the final frame was key for the Bourne boys.
