Billiards round-up: Another spree of big breaks from cue ace Childs

Rob Childs put on another masterclass in the Spalding and District Billiards League on Monday night.

The Crowland B ace, who plays off a massive O240 handicap, came back to beat Shane White (O20) 200-198 thanks to breaks of 65, 50 (twice), 33, 28, 25 (twice) and an unfinished 32.

However, victories from Marcus Pell (O10) and James Waterfall (R60) gave away side Gosberton B a 5-2 win.

Another of the league’s big-hitters, Consti B’s Mick Johnson (O170), sank a stellar 56 break against Pyramid A’s John Twell (R60).

It was in vain, though, with Twell – who made a 37 break of his own – beating Johnson 200-145 to help his high-flying side secure a 5-2 success to go top.

Elsewhere, Donington picked up a 5-2 home victory over Consti C. Ben Wrigglesworth (R50) and Neil Reynolds (O20) reeled off breaks of 29 and 24 respectively for the victors, while Alan Hansard (R70) recorded a 35 break for Consti.

The closest game of the week saw Pyramid B edge out Consti A 4-3.

Wins from Maurice Phillipson (R70) and Darrell Read (R40) were key for the Bourne side.
