Big boost for Surfleet school

A school is to get a new learning area after a nearly half a million pound boost.

Surfleet Primary School is looking to demolish a current module classroom so it can extend its existing nature garden.

It then wants to build a modular classroom complete with cloakroom and toilets.

The project has been granted £475,000 from the government’s Condition Improvement Fund (CIF).

It supports various schools and colleges in carrying out vital building or repair work for the benefit of students and teachers.

A spokesman for the school said: “Surfleet will benefit from improved facilities and an increase in available teaching areas.

“The removal of the old mobile will also allow headteacher, Rick Chipperfield, to achieve his vision of creating a communal garden, allowing children to grow fruit, vegetables and flowers, allowing them to gain practical science knowledge.

“This is the final stage of what is dubbed the ‘Wildlife Warrior Project’.”

Work is estimated to be completed within the 2025-2026 academic year.
