Proposals to restrict car parking around Pinchbeck Primary School look set to be passed, despite local objections.
Pinchbeck East C of E Primary School contacted Lincolnshire County asking for measures to be introduced.
The authority is proposing waiting restrictions, a bus stand and bus stop clearway at Knight Street, plus waiting restrictions on Forge Crescent, Fennell Road and Westfield Drive.
The bus lane on the school side of Knight Street would be in action 6.30am to 7pm either side of the existing no waiting restrictions with a bus stand operating 8am to 9.30am and 2.30pm to 4pm Monday to Friday.
A new no waiting zone would be put in place on the opposite side of the road for Monday to Friday from 8am to 9.30am and 2.30pm and 4pm.
The same will be in place on Fennell Road with no waiting at any time placed on all junctions and turning points including and north of its junction with The Chase.
No waiting restrictions will also be in place on turning points and junctions on both Forge Crescent and Westfield Drive.
Residents of Forge Close have raised objections.
A report to go before Lincolnshire County Council’s Planning and Regulation Committee states the residents are concerned ‘this will present a security issue and affect property values, so would therefore penalise residents rather than parents parking in the area, in particular, those who are disabled’.
The report continues that residents asked they be implemented at school start and end times during term times only.
A Knight Street business has also objected saying owners were worried parents dropping children off at school would use their car park and called for the school to provide more parking.
Pinchbeck Primary School had requested a school safety zone be introduced.
But the report to the committee which will decide on September 4 whether to go ahead with the proposals states: “School safety zones are advisory schemes and therefore cannot be enforced so proposals to manage parking by means of enforceable waiting restrictions at the above locations have been developed as an alternative.
“The aim of these restrictions is to manage the increase in on-street parking demand associated with the school.
“The extents proposed are the minimum required to promote safety for drivers and pedestrians in the vicinity of the pedestrian accesses, whilst mitigating their effect on residents in the area.
“The provision for buses on Knight Street will further relieve the pressure for on-street parking in the residential area, and the restrictions here will protect the access to the private car park and maintain traffic flow during busy periods.”
