Bench unveiled in memory of Holly

Family and friends of a Spalding teen who died have unveiled a memorial bench on what would have been her 20th birthday.

Holly May Maxwell died on December 19, 2022 after having influenza, pneumonia, sepsis and COVID-19.
An inquest into the care worker’s death heard there was a catalogue of failures with her healthcare.
Last Friday (November 17) Holly May’s mum Kylie Lambert and her siblings were joined by family and friends to celebrate her birthday by unveiling a bench at Spalding Skate Park off Holbeach Road where she frequently hung out.
Doves were released by Donington-based Dream Doves and those gathered sang happy birthday as they released balloons.
“I still feel empty but we wanted to have this celebration for Holly May,” Kylie said.
“It was amazing so many turned out and it’s something I take strength in.
“I’ve been overwhelmed by all the love and support for her.
“She loved to be at the skate park with her friends, particularly her best friends.
“I can’t thank everyone enough for their support.”
Coun Rob Gibson paid for the bench from his ward budget.
“The budget is there to support people in my ward.
“When I read about what a young person like Holly May and her family had to go through I was shocked and hopefully this makes a little difference for those affected.”
