Bell is on the ball for latest regatta win

Tom Bell was on song as Welland Yacht Club began a new series.

Having now caught up with the postponed regattas, a blustery Sunday saw Commodores Points get underway, the first series of the season.

Four boats took to the water for race one, still keeping with the pursuit format.

First away were Neal Tack and Rebecca Slator in their Graduate, then Alan Cox (Laser Radial) followed by Tom Bell (full rig Laser) and finally Paul Burton (Supernova).

Over a long course the fleet gradually bunched up over the course of the first 45 minutes.

They were all doing their best to keep upright in the gusts.

Eventually Bell and Burton would make their way through to first and second respectfully.

Cox took third, Neal Tack and Rebecca Slator fourth.

Race two would see only three boats compete over the same course.

Tack and Slator maintained the lead for the majority of the race, but Bell and Burton made it past.

Bell held off the challenge of Burton to take the win.
