A two year ban from Spalding town centre given to a women found guilty of anti-social behaviour in the town will send out a message that can help clean Hall Place up, a local councillor has claimed.
Leanne Thornton of no fixed abode was given the order recently following what South Holland Police call ‘a series of prolific offences of theft, public order and assault’.
Speaking at last week’s meeting of Spalding Town Forum, Coun Gary Taylor welcomed the move as work on removing the Hall Place seating got underway this week.
“We know that Hall Place has been under the spotlight for some time,” he said. “It’s overdue to improve that.
“The police and agencies have been working together to deal with some of the anti-social elements there.
“One of the trouble makers there has been given a two year ban from the town centre.
“That demonstrates we do gather evidence by working with agencies and it sends a message that if you do behave badly in Spalding town centre you will be banned, or anywhere else if activity takes place such as that.
“That gives us hope going forward that people should treat it with some respect.
“We’ll see some physical improvements in the next few days.”
