Ball’s thousands for hospital

The organisers of a charity ball’s last act has been to donate an amazing £9,309.11, making nearly £80,000 raised for local healthcare.

The Johnson Hospital Ball committee donated the total for the last few events to Friends of Johnson Community Hospital.

It has run for 13 years with all the profit raised going to the charity.

Hospital ball committee chairman Sally Brown said: “Sadly the ball has had to come to an end due to the rising of costs and reduced sponsorship available.

“The committee hopes that this final donation will help towards enhancing the patient care and services within Johnson Community Hospital.”

Steve Weatherly-Barton, chairman of Friends of Community Hospital, said: “We are delighted to receive this generous donation to our funds.

“The Johnson Hospital Ball has been run for years with energy, imagination and hours of very hard work, and no words are enough to thank the committee for all they have done in support of the hospital.”

Honorary treasurer Elisabeth Britten stated: “The League of Friends is very grateful for this generous donation.

“Over the years, the ball committee have made donations with which we have been able to provide equipment for the expansion of services which were not available through NHS funding.”
