Baker hits five to put Sutton on brink of step up

Long Sutton Men 1s 8
March Town 1s 1
Josh Baker scored five times as Long Sutton moved to within a point of securing promotion from Men’s East League Division Two North West.
A draw in their final match at bottom club Cambridge City 4s on Saturday will make them uncatchable by Division Two North East rivals Ipswich & East Suffolk.
Man of the match Baker scored a first-half double to open a 2-0 lead and in the second half helped himself to a treble, to go with strikes from Daniel Batten 2 and Nick Ellis.

Cambridge Uni 3s 4
Long Sutton Men 2s 2
The second team completed their Division Three North West season in third place with a 4-2 defeat on Sunday.
Alfie Braginton played well in goal to keep a clean sheet in the first half and a goal from White ensured it was the visitors who led at the interval.
An increase in intensity from the Uni team saw some cracks start to show in the Sutton defence. Jackson had to come off after the fractured rib he sustained the previous week proved troublesome.
The hosts grabbed a fortuitous equaliser to force open the floodgates and go 4-1 ahead.
Some respectability was added to the scoreline when man of the match Stef Fox was slipped through and he finished in emphatic style.

City of Peterborough 7s 0
Long Sutton Men 3s 1
Adam Croxford grabbed the only goal of the game to secure a Division Five North West victory.
Adam Taylor earned the player of the match award.

Pelicans Ladies 1s 5
Long Sutton Ladies 1s 0
Tania White picked up the player of the match honours in a disappointing defeat at King’s Lynn in East Ladies League Division Two North West.

City of Peterborough 5s 0
Long Sutton Ladies 2s 3
Despite dominating the first half of their Division Five North West match, Sutton failed to find their way to goal until the second half.
Player of the match Annabelle Giles eventually opened the scoring, with Katie Whittaker quickly doubling the advantage.
Giles confirmed the points with a late third.
