Baker and East goals prove to be in vain

Long Sutton Men’s first team squandered an early two-goal lead to go down 3-2 at home to Dereham in East Men’s League Division One North.
All looked fine when Josh Baker and McKenzie East put them 2-0 up inside 16 minutes but it was all square within ten minutes and they conceded the decider after 69.
Daniel Plant was the match-winner with a hat-trick as the second team hit back from 2-1 down to go 5-2 up against City of Peterborough 4ths, before withstanding a late fightback to win 5-4. Frazer Watt and Oscar Giles got the other goals in the Division 3NW clash.
In Division 5NW, Alex Canham scored to bring the third team level at home to City of Peterborough 7ths but, after holding their visitors to 2-2 at half-time, three second-half goals went unanswered in a 5-2 defeat.
Hannah Baker put Sutton Women’s first team ahead at Wisbech Town 2nds in Division 3NW on Saturday but they had to settle for a 1-1 draw.
However, they took all the points on Sunday against Cambridge University 4ths courtesy of a 5-0 walkover.
Sutton 2nds lost 4-0 at Cambridge Nomads 2nds in Division 4NW.
