Awesome Andy can’t be caught after two more Welland Yacht Club wins

Andy Prior wrapped up overall victory in Welland Yacht Club’s six-race pursuit series with two rounds still to contest with a double win on Sunday.

In pursuit racing, a personal handicap is applied to a theoretical hours race time to allocate each participant with a start time.

Currently there is 14 minutes difference between the first and last boat at Welland – and with 13 boats taking part, the task of getting all boats away at the correct time is an unenviable one.

Once under way, each boat had to try and catch the boat in front without being caught and overtaken themselves.

A reasonable breeze with the occasional gust made for good sailing conditions, with Prior taking victory in round three ahead of Niall Holland (second), Tom Bell (third) and Lucy Burton (fourth).

Prior then made it four wins from four in the fourth round, with Burton this time taking second place. Mark Holland took third this time, with Brian Cobb fourth.

With the best four results out of the six rounds counting, Prior can’t be caught at the top.
