A local group’s efforts in raising £38,000 for people affected by cancer in Lincolnshire have earned it an award.

The Spalding and Holbeach Macmillan Cancer Support fundraising group have been named the Regional Fundraising Committee of the Year for the Midlands by the charity.

The numerous events members have put on in the last year include fashion shows at Cindy’s of Sutton Bridge, an

Easter egg hunt at Ayscoughfee, a speaker’s afternoon at the Poachers Country Hotel and events at Baytree Garden Centre, as well as a host of coffee mornings, quizzes and tombolas.

The group’s chairperson Catherine Stone, said: “We are thrilled and so proud to have won this award.

“We couldn’t do this without the continuing support of the local community and friends who support our endeavours.”
