Avenue perfect for fundraiser

Residents of a Pinchbeck road came together last weekend to raise funds for a local charity as an opera singer helped out his neighbour.

Pavanotti, aka Jeff Woods, sang on his Mountbatten Avenue Drive on Sunday (August 11) after hearing about Annamaria Bodor’s bid to raise money for the Little Miracles.
She is one of eight employees from Greencore who are set to take on a skydive for their employer’s nominated charity of the year.
The skydive is currently pencilled in for September 28, but Annamaria wanted to get the first bit of fundraising in early.
And well known local entertainer Jeff and his wife Jacqui offered to do something as part of the fundraising.
Jeff reprised his concerts that proved a hit during the COVID-19 lockdowns by singing on his doorstep.
A crowd came along to listen to Jeff and sample the cakes and drinks Annamaria and her friends and family had provided.
“Jeff was brilliant,” Annamaria said. “Especially the last song of Nessun Dorma.
“It had me in tears and gave me goosebumps.
“He’s so amazingly talented and just a really kind person.
“When he heard about my fundraising, straight away he offered to help.”
“They’ve been so nice to us since we moved in eight years ago.”
Jacqui said: “Annamaria and her husband Tamas are lovely neighbours of ours and I thought it would be nice to host a friends and neighbours get-together on our driveway to raise some money for such a good cause.
“We have wonderful neighbours and we often have get-togethers on our driveway, starting during lockdown, it seemed a great way to help Annamaria and the children who would benefit.
“My husband Jeff entertained, the neighbours brought yummy things to eat and drink and Annamaria had a stall offering her home-made delicious cakes and desserts.
“We all had a great time, many people stayed the whole morning and others dropped in. In all about 50 people supported Annamaria.
“We were also delighted to welcome councillor Andrew Woolf, chair of South Holland District Council who made time to come along to support us at short notice, as did coun Mark Le Sage.
“The generosity and support of the people of our area for good causes is second to none. Last week Jeff and I celebrated our tenth anniversary since we moved here.
“We couldn’t wish to live in a better place.”
Jeff added: ” A famous politician once said that there is no such thing as Community but that was certainly not the case on Sunday when it came to raising money for Little Miracles via a popular resident.”
