A 30-year-old man has admitted possessing a knife and assaulting a Spalding antiques dealer with intent to rob him.
Viktors Lahs pleaded guilty to two charges when he appeared at Lincoln Crown Court by video link from custody on Monday, October 16.
Speaking through a Russian interpreter,
Lahs admitted assaulting 78-year-old John Mumford with intent to rob him on 12 September, this year.
Lahs, of no fixed address, also pleaded guilty to having a bladed or pointed article – namely a long handled knife – in Abbey Path, Spalding, on the same date.
The incident was investigated by police after Mr Mumford, of Spalding Antiques in Abbey Path, was grabbed and had a knife held in front of him during an attempted robbery.
Phil Howes, prosecuting, asked for the case to be adjourned for checks to be made to see if Lahs had any previous convictions in his native country.
Mark Watson, defending Lahs, made no application for bail and the case was adjourned for sentence at Lincoln Crown Court on 10 November.
Judge John Pini QC remanded Lahs in to custody until his next appearance
The judge told Lahs: “I am adjourning your case for sentence until 10 November. In the meantime you will remain where you are.”
