Athletic merge into Spalding Town

Peterborough and District Football League Clubs Spalding Town and Spalding Athletic have become one club.

Spalding Town will keep their name with the club playing in Division One of the league from Knight Street in Pinchbeck.

Spalding Athletic’s former place in Division Three will become the new Spalding Town Reserve team.

The first team will be managed by former Athletic manager James Langford alongside assistant Simon Jackson.

A statement by the club says: “Both are very much looking forward to this opportunity to be involved with such a good set up and work with new and existing players.

“We are also happy to announce the addition of Kai Brownhill who will be joining as club coach.

“Kai brings a wealth of experience having coached in the UCL as well as winning four consecutive PDFL promotions with Glinton.”
